Once the tents are up, the booths stocked, and stages set, all the performers need to prepare for their various roles played in the circus or carnival. Many must fit into elaborate costumes, some with unique headgear or fancy hair styles (if you missed our fun look at fanciful attire, jump back a week and catch up). Others will have props that need to be worked into their attire or possibly even strapped on. But it’s the makeup that is probably the most time-consuming.

To say the makeup techniques used by circus and carnival performers across the globe is an art, it putting it mildly. One must have an understanding of various types: special effects makeup, Theatrical makeup, airbrushed makeup, high-definition makeup, in addition to your basic Fashion makeup. As a consumer coming to see the show, you want to be dazzled. The last thing you want to witness is a dozen or more shiny faces with color melting into their chests. Am I right? You know I am.

Watch as our *coughs* strapping performer for Cirque du soleil gets ready for his role.
Doesn’t he makes it look amazingly simple and easy to do? Would you be willing to undergo such a lengthy ordeal on a regular basis? Tell us, what did you think of this look behind the scenes? Zeke wants to know. What other things are you interested in?
Until next time—safe travels,
